About the Event
Join us this January as we discuss ‘Natives' by Akala.
Tell us what stood out to you the most or perhaps what you relate to.
Akala is a BAFTA- and MOBO-award-winning musician and political commentator. In this autobiographical account, Akala explores how race and class shaped his experiences and then widens out to look at the social, historical and political factors that have brought us to where we are today. 'Covering everything from the police, education and identity to politics, sexual objectification and the far right, Natives confronts the British denial and squeamishness when it comes to confronting issues of race and class that are at the heart of the legacy of Britain's racialised empire'.
You can purchase the book (paper or kindle) via the link below to read before our debate.
